Mr. Charles Wilson is one of the original members of the council, having'served upon it since it was created in 1898. Hβ is ono of a group of three members who are elected (ono in eacli year) by tho members of Parliament of the Middle university District. The franchise extends to members of tho Lower House m the provincial districts of Wellington, Nelson, Westland, Marlborough, Hawko's Bay and Taranaki, and members of tho upper House resident in am- of theso districts.
