MEETING OF CABINET.
TENDERS ACCEPTED,
Cabinet eat yesterday afternoon and evening for about four hours and a half. The expenditure of £1495 for workshops and machinery for tlio railways, and £19,375 for rolling stock wns approved. An order for ten locomotives wile also resolved to have apprentices' quarters erected at the Woreroa State The'cxpenditure of ,£2OOO to continue tho making of road access at Reariaki was approved. The lowest tenders were accepted for tlio following works:—Erection of bulk storo for the post office at Wellington, Matau Kiver bridge, Taumarmuii post oflice, formation on the Westnort-Inanpihun railwav, Temuka polico station, cottages at Kiivi, on Clio -Midland railway. Tenders are to be called for the Wairoa River bridge. . Veterinary surgeons are to bo appointed to the Defence Department, mid Cabinet approved of a scale of salaries for 6«ch officers. . Permission wns granted for three members of tlio Public Service to act as delegates to the council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants.
