e (From Our Own Correspondent.) Palmerston North, April 15. The final for the pairs and rink matches in connection with the Palmerston Bowling Club's Easter tournament, which could not be completed owing to inclement weather, will be ployed in 'Wellington shortly, when several rinks will accompany the local players and engage in games with Wellington clubs. The pairs contestants are: E. S. Dixou and J. A. Nash (Palmerston), and Sir E. Gibbes and Frost (Wellington), while the rinks engaged are those skipped by N. H. Xash (Pnlmerston) nnd Coles (Petone). On Saturday, a rink comprising S. Russell, A. Pickering, A. Drew, and T. J. Tasker (s.), challengers, played the Terraco End holders of the Yates Feathers— Jones, Carter, Martin, and R. Sollitt (s.) —but were defeated by 20 to 17. The Palmerston Bowling Club has closed one of its greens for top-dressing, but tho other will be kept open until the weather precludes further play. Yesterday, at St. Patrick's' Roman Catholic Church, the Rev. Father Costello pointed out that there was nothing in the Ne Teniere decree affecting citizenship in any way, and nothing affecting any non-Catholic. It prescribed that a Catholic could not fail to observe the rules of the Church in the matter of marriage and continue to consider themselves members of the Church. It simply laid down a fundamental rule that applied to any organisation or society. One could not violate the rules and still remain a member of it. The annual picnic of the teachers of the Anglican Sunday Schools was held at Tiritea. on Saturday afternoon. At a meeting of tho committee of the Manawatu Hunt on Saturday night, tho following fixtures for "m«ets" were drawn up:—Tuesday, April 23—Rangitikei' Line or Fitzherbert East; Saturday, April 27— Kiwitea; Tuesday, April 30—Manakau; Thursday, May 2—Levm; Saturday, May i —Palmerston North; Wednesday, May 8 —C-arnarven; Saturday, May U—Levin; Tuesday, May M—Waifcanae; Wednesday, May 15—Palmerston North; Saturday, May 18—Kiwitea. e
