A largo number of new members were enrolled, the membership .standing now nt 838. Tho main event of the year has been tho introduction of the classification list. JUucli dissatisfaction has been expressed therewith, and your committee of (he association made representations to (ho Executivo .Comniitteo ot the association, which has sinco taken steps in tho matter. After some negotiations wilh Iho Government Printing Officers' Association, arrangements were made for alliliation of that body with this branch of tTio Civil Service Association. While.-tho Printing Officers' Association maintains its telf-government and independenco in dealing wilh purely local matters, its members have been given the right to Hires representatives on the Branch Committee. All members of tho Printing Officers' Association have full rights of membership of this association, but while they pay full subscription to their Ollico Association, half of that amount only is payable- to this branch, tho balance being required for the purposes of tho Office Association. During the year a very successful Civil Service ball was held in tho Town Hall, under tins auspices of the association. It was ono of tho social events of Wellington. There is much work to bo done by the association, and we would impress upon.you tho necessity of electing a strong committee, as representative as possible of the various Departments of the service."
