On the return of the Prime Minister (tho Hon. T. Mackenzie), and tho Hon. H. G. Ell, who are expected to-day, all the Cabinot Ministers, except tho Hon. J. Colvin, who is on the West Coast, and the Hon. T. Buxton, who is at Temuka, will bo in Wellington.
Mr. W. F. Massey, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, attends a social function at Avyjidliam to Mr. J. G. Anderson, M.P. for Mataura, to-night, and on Friday, at Queenstown, a social function to Mr. W. i'raser, M.P. for Wnkatipu. lie is accompanicd by Mr. D. Buici, M.P. for Palmerston North, anil Mr. F. 11. Smith, M.P. for Waitaki.
Mr. P. Halley, Conciliation Commissioner, returned yesterday from the south bv the Maori,

Dr. J. C. Simpson, ono of the meteorological staff witn Captain Scott's expedition, passed through Wollington en route to Sydney and India on Friday. Ho has been recalled owing to the illness of Dr. Walker, chief of the Meteorological Department of India.
The Hon. G. Laurcnson was a passenger by the Maori from the south yesterday morning.
Out of twenty-eight applicants for the position, 11 r. John 11. Bmmett has been selected as secretary to tho Masterton A. and I'. Association. .The appointment was mado on Saturday, and the final selection lay between the successful candidate and an applicant from Jlawke's Bay.
Mr. W. M'liOughlin, who is well known in mimical cirelcs both here and in Dunedin, and a conductor of considerably experietico in connection with choir, or. chestra, and operatic work, has been appointed musical director and accompanist to the Wellington Orphans' Club. It
is anticipated that some very good chorus work will be rendered during the forthcoming session of the club. Mr. Harold Peterson has also been appointed lion, accompanist.
