TERRITORIALS AND INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES. Tho Minister for Defence (Hon. A. M« Myers) made a further statement yesterday on one of the questions raised by tho anti-militarist deputation which waited upon him on Thursday. Mr. Myers said that tho report was correct, but lie wished to add that he desired to make it quite clear that while tho Territorials should in 110 way takoipart. in industrial disputes, if, .however,, as tho result of such disputes society was in a stale of anarchy resulting in riot and disorder in the community it would then bo his duty to assist in seeing tliat law and order wcro maintained. It was clearly tho function of the police bo safeguard tho civil rights of the community, and only as a last resort, after tho failure of tho usual protectors of publio order, would tho question of using th« military arise.
