The Hon. G. W. Russell, Minister for Internal Affairs, will receive a deputation from (he Wellington Early Settlers' Association at 4 p.m. 011 Monday next. The Hon. CI. Laurenson, Minister for Labour, left last night by the Maori en ronto to Christelnirch. He will receive a deputation this morning from agricultural implement manufacturers 011 the question of reciprocity between the Australian Commonwealth and A'etv Zealand in regard to the importation of foreignniadc machinery. In the afternoon the Minister will open the new baths at Sumner, and he will probably return to Wellington to-morrow morning.
Jlr. Martin Kennedy was elected chairman of (he board of directors of tho Dank of New Zealand yesterday for tho year ending March 13, 1913.
Tho death is recorded of Mr. David Yonvath, J.P., chairman of the Mont il'Or Goidmining Company, of Ross. Tho deceased, who was 75 years of age, was a member of tho Ross Borough Council for several years, and was Mayor of lioss in 3897.
Sir Robert Anderson, at one time Lori Mayor of Belfast, and Lady Andersoi were visitors to Wellington yesterday.
At the Labour Party Conference yesterday, a resolution was passed in reference to tho death of Mr. .1. Dacey, late State Treasurer of New South Wales. Jlr. Dacey promoted tho "Daceyvillo" scheme of workers' homes at Kensington, Sydney. Tho resolution reads as_ folio-ivs:—'"That this conference of the New; Zealand Labour party records its deep sense of the loss sustained by tho workers of Australia in tho death of Mr. ,T. Dacey, Stato Treasurer, and extends its sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives." A copy of the resolution is to lie forwarded to the New South Wales Laliour party. The Unity Conference passed a similar resolution!
Jlr. Doyle, who visited New Zealand with Miss Florence Baines's "Miss Lancashire, Ltd.." Company a couple of years ago, has arrived in Wellington to make the advance arrangements for a season at the Opera House of Hiss Marie Bailies, who will appear in a revised version of the musical farce made popular by her sister.
Mr. P. Wheatley, of the literary staff of the "New Zealand Herald," arrived ill Wellington by yesterday's Main Trunk express, and proceeded south by tlio Maori.
Mr. Ernest Gillon, Railway Locomotive Superintendent for Westland, who has been on a Departmental visit to Wellington, returns to the West Coast by the Arahnra to-day.
Mr. W. A. l'ryor, secretary of tho Employers' Federation, left for Christchurcli last evening in order to attend a sitting of tho Arbitration Court there.
Mr. A. 1!. Ilislop intends leaving Wellington on Friday, April 20, by tlio Warrimoo, en route to Great Britain and tho Continent on business.
Mr. John Smith, Acting-Mayor of Wellington, returned from south by tlio Maori yesterday morning.
