AFTER CALL TO THE CABINET. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, April 11. The present political situation in New Zealand, where new Ministers hold power without any direct appeal to the people, could not have arisen in We.-.t Australia. Mr. J. J. Holmes, a Minister of the State named, who lias been visiting the Dominion, and left for Sydney again yesterday, told 'i "Herald" representative before his departure that he had watched our politics with great interest. As regards the present position he was more than ever convinced as to the wisdom of a certain provision in the West Australian Constitution. Under this, as soon as a member accents Ministerial office, he has to immediately tender his resignation as an M.P. and seek re-election.
