THE MAYORALTY.

Sir,—l am a constant reader of _ your paper, and I notice that the public of Wellington are almost begging for a gentleman to stand as Mayor for the capital city of the Dominion. What surprises me is that I have not noticed any deputation waiting on or asking pur worthy and respected citizen, Dr. Newman,, to stand again. At tho end of his last term as Mayor he and Mrs. Newman had a great number of deputations asking him to stand again, but of course at that time ho was going for a trip to England. If the doctor would consent to stand I am sure he would head the poll.—l am, etc., A VOTER.
