C Spratt (Canterbury), 11, Cor--1 til Mazengarb (Otago). ~ n 'J) c first debate Victoria College took the affirmative, and Auckland tho negative, and in tho second Olago supporte<l tho affirmative and Canterbury took the negative. 'Tho first two speakers were subjected to aeonsiderablo amount of interruption, principally owing, it is said, ? j le rowdiness of Canterbury College students, but tho chairman's firm attitude and the appeals of other students - Jj 6 sports' had tho desired effect. tt' 116-^uI 16 -^ u ?es al ™rded the first placo to \ ictona College, with Ota go second and Canterbury third. Tho chairman announced that there ivero very few points between Victoria College and Otago.
