MR. ROBERTSON, M.P.
1 AND HIS ELECTION PLEDGE. (Br TelcirraDh—Pre3s Association.! Levin, April 6. Mr. Robertson,. M.P., addressed tha electors at Levin on Thursday evening. Tho hall was crowded, and some opposi- • lion, evidenced, itself, but the big majority of the meeting was favourably disposed, and though heated interjections were made occasionally a good hearing was vouchsafed. Mr. Robertson defended his, vote on tho no-oonfidciice motion, claiming that when Sir Joseph Ward undertook that ho would resign and thus ensured tho resignation of his Cabinet, his (Mr. Robertson's) pre-election pledge was given elfect to in its full spirit. He himself always had said that ho was not a supporter of Mr. Massey, and therefore ho was fully justified in voting so as to keep Mr. Massey off tho Government benches, the more so as it was known that if the Ward Government were defeated there would be "rats" from tho Liberal party whoso votes would have prevented Labour getting a clnuico to turn out Mr. Massey. Amidst cheers, a motion was carried to the effect that the meeting thanked Mr. Robertson for his address, and expressed the opinion that ho had voted in Parliament in tho best interests of tho Dominion.
