CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
Several notices of motion dealing witli matters of importance have been Sanded in to tho secletary of the, Chamber of Commerce for consideration nt the next meeting of the council to be held on April 15. The motions are as follow: — By Sir. T. Ballinger—"That the rates of insurance in Wellington as compared with those in Dunedin, Christchurch and Auckland, be taken into consideration bj- this Chamber." By Mr. C. W. Jones—"That the press bo admitted to icsular council meetings." By Jlr. T. C. Dawson—"That the council consider the question of appointing an official organ to record tho proceedings of the Chamber." By Mr. A. Leigh Hunt—"That a deputation, consisting of tho whole council, wait upon tho Minister for Railways to urge tho following: "fhe carlv establishment of a Central Railway Station for Wellington.' 'The establishment of an auxiliary goods shed at Tc Am Railway Station. 'The instituting of a e.vstem of through booking of goods by land nnd sea .through the Roilway Department, as suggested by the New Zealand Farmers' Union, and unproved of by twenty-two other Chambers of Commerce through New Zealand.'"
