Wedding at St, Mark's. At St. Mark's Church, on Thursday, April 4, tho wedding look place ol -Miss Elsie Gay, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs Gay, of Wellington South, and Mr. William'H. Leathern, tho only sou nt Mr. Cranston Grcig Leathern, of Austin Street, Wellington. The Rev. Mr. Askew oliiciated. The bride, who was given away by In- father, wore a gown of cream ehillon (ali'otas, trimmed with silk lace, mid veil and wreath of orange blossoms. She. carried a- shower bouquet nf white flowers. Miss Duke, of Chrislcliurcli, was tho only bridesmaid, and wore a frock oi wlino cliurmeu=i\ handsomely trimmed, and a lar"p black hat with black and white plumes. She carried a handsome bouquet. Mr Terrill, cousin of tho bride, was best man. \ft<-r tho ceremony a teception was held at (ho homo of tho bride; s parents, Hanson Street, nnd later in the day the bride and bridegroom left on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a navy blue costume and hat en suite. Wedding at Featherston. M the South Featherston Church on Wednesday, tho marriage took place of the Rev. C. Roberts, of the Methodist Church, to Miss Jvato Mary Goodnck, fourth daughter of Mr. and .Jlrs. 0. I'. Cloodrick, well-known settlers of this district. The bride, who. was given away bv her father, wore .a white silk dress ti'immed with silk insertion, and carried a bouquet of white (lowers, 'the bridesmaid was Miss Mary Ellen Goodnck, sister of tho bride, and her dress was of pale, blue silk, trimmed with black and cold insertion, and she wore a black velvet hat The ceremony was performed by tho Rev. S. J. Sernell, of Mnslerlon, and Mr L. Serpell, of Duiiedin, was host man. The lioncviiHon will bo spent in tho Otaki district, where Mr. Roberts was formerly stationed. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts will afterwards take up their residence in Hokitika. Hutt Golf Club. Tho ladies of tho Hutt Golf Club held the first of this season's competitions on AVednosdny. It took tho form of a foursome for trophies presented by tho captain, Mrs. Coverdale. Sixteen pairs took part, and tl>e best card handed in was that of Miss Foster and Slips Wilson, four up on "bo»ey,'.' followed by Mrs. Gordon and Stis's Rathbfmo one down. Wong's Conference, The meeting'oP'the New Zealand Young Women's Presbyterian Biblo Class Union, which aro bsing held in St. John's Church, have been most enthusiastic., tho attendance so far has been good, and the discussions exceedingly instructive. Yesterday, in addition to various services, a conference luncheon took place, and in the afternoon a considerable amount of business was transacted in connection with revising the constitution, and in tho consideration of remits-. In tho evening a welcome lea was held, afterwards followed by a public meeting, at which Miss Frederick, of Palmcrston North, spoke upon India as a field for missionary enterprise, and Sister Alison upon "The Needs of Our Own Land," i'o-day the conference begins its sitting by meeting in the momiug and discussing and reading papers upon the missionary enterprise of the Presbyterian Church and the vital need of to-day. In the afternoon there will bo an oxcursion to. Day's' Bay. On Sunday there will bo special services. The conference will continuo until Monday afternoon, and all young women are invited to be present.
Mrs. C. A. Francis and Miss Francis are visiting , Mastcrton for tho Easter days. Mrs. Chatficld, who lias boen spending some weeks in the south, hns returned to Wellington. Miss Hayes left for Nelson on Thursday and will be the guest for some days of' Mr. and Mrs. J. Hayes. Miss Clark and Miss Violet Clark (Khandallah) aro visiting lilenhcini. Dr. and Mrs. Pope (Palnierslon) are spending a few days in the south. Mr. and Mrs. IT.. S. Kins left Wellington on Wednesday for Nelson. Miss Malcolm is leaving to-day for 'Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. P. Ilatton Miller leave for Sydney at the end' of the month. It is ■ thoir 'intention to reside at Manly for at least a year. Mr. nnil Mrs. Gordon Heid have taken Mr. and Mrs. C. 11. Izard's house in Talavera Terrace, and moved in last week.
