Mr.s.-Bow entered the room, which was full of smoke,' and Joiind the child on., tho. bed , unconscious .Roe- smoking mattress was on the table ' and she left it there'.'..whilst she carried her daughter put into tho back yard. \ neighbour assisted her in a fruitless attempt to resuscitate tho child. Meantime neighbours suppressed the firo in the Jioiise. It ] is supposed tiia fire was caused by the cnildren playing with matches during the 'mother's absence. . ,
. Auckland, Jtarch 31. An inquest on the -girl Brenda Muriel How, who died from suffocation on Fri"p\ , wa ?.,. hel ;! yesterday. After evidence of identification had been taken Serpe?r>t O'Grady. on behalf of the police, said that in the interests of justice they desired an adjoiiniinent to enablo inonirics to lx> made. The Coroner accordinsly ordered an adjournment until Thursday.
