COMPULSORY TRAINING.
. ♦ — THIS YEAR'S REGISTRATIONS. The Adjutant-General (Colonel A. W. Robin, C.M.G.) has issued a memorandum of instructions as to the posting of those persons liable for service in tho yearly quota of recruits" for tho Territorial force nnd Senior Cadets: ■ (a) All persons who will attain the ages of fourteen to twenty-two years on or before May 31 next who have not already registered to do so. This does not mean that anybody who was over the age of twenty-one last year, when the scheme was put into operation, is affected; the age of twemy-two only refers to those.persons who neglected to register last year. | (b) All boys attending any primary school who will attain, or have attained, fourteen years of age on May 31, 1912, or if they remain at such primary school beyond the age of fourteen on May 31 of tho year in which they will have "or havo loft such primary school. Registration of hoys attending primary schools may be made by school authorities on behalf of tho boys. : (c) All male persons who have not attained twenty-two years of age temporarily absent from tho Dominion, not previously registered, must do so within '.wo month; of their return. (d) All male immigrants who are between the ages of fourteen and hrtmtytwo must register within six mouths after arrivin? in the Dominion. (e) All male persons who, owing to change of residence, have ceased to reside in an exempted area must register v.ithin thirty days of such change of residence to an area not so exempted. If registiatioa has already been made, Ihc person must produce his record-book to tue nearest area office. Registration, of those liable for Inst year who have not yet registered will c( ntimie. Efforts are to bo made :n all areas to locate and register those who may not yet have registered. Registration of youths who reach the a?o of fourteen during May will lake place either through the school or if they have left the primary school by the usual method of registration from the nearest military office, post, or police office. i ■ . Tho balance of 1912 quota not required for the Territorial force to be nost?d to existing rifle clubs. This will mt be retrospective, and will only apply to those liable for-service in the Territorial force on Juno 1, 1.912, or the nucleus of clubs formed under conditions hereafter prescribed. In cases of objection to lake the Oath, an affirmation may he .accepted. Should n nerson state his willingness to attend drills and exercises, he is to ho permitted to do so. even if at the time he has not taken the oath.
The following is the table of height, weight, and girth measurement nn;ler the medical examination (ac:e of 18):—For height (without shoesl. of 62in. to Gsin.; minimum weight (without clothes). 111 to 1171b.: girth (expanded), 34iin.; range of expansion 2in. Height of Go to 68in.— weight, 117 to 1211b.: girth, 35: expansion, 2. Height OS to 72in.—weight 124 to 1361b. girth, 35J expansion. 2 : n. FeiVht of 72in. and upwards—weight. 1361b.; girth, SG: expansion, 2J.
