Palmerston North, March 28. Mr. C. A. Louehnan yesterday issued a writ for jEIOOO damages for alleged libel on behalt of Mr. Thomas Stagpoole, against Frederick Pirani, journalist, and Fred?rick Pirani and Co., Ltd., proprietors of lie "Feilding Star." The alleged libels are contained'in the "Steir" oC Monday, March 18, in which a heading lo a report of the conclusion of tho Stagpoole caso read, "A Fraudulent Return sent in by Mr. Stagpoole"; an editorial was prefaced by a statement by Mr. Pirani that. Mr. .Stagpoole would l>e debarred from holding any position us n teacher, and would liwl it iniim.-siblo to obtain any position nf trust; aV>, in the report already referred to.
