Wellington Wedding. Yesterday the marriage took place of Miss Flora Lucy Tolhurst, daughter of Mr. G. E. Tolhurst, and Mr. Thomas Yoiing, barrister, of Wellington. The Rev. J. Kennedy Elliott, officiated. The bride was given away by her father, and was attended by her cousin, Miss Bartlett. Mr. Campbell Young, brother. of the bridegroom, was the best man. Mr. and Mrs. i'oung are leaving for a short visit toEngland. A Farewell Gathering. The many friends of Dr. and Mrs. Beedie, of Feilding, have during the last few days taken the opportunity of bidding them farewell prior to their departure on a visit to Scotland. On Monday afternoon the final gathering took place at "Wharekoa," the home of Mr. M'Bcth. The pretty homestead was nil astir with the many friends who gathered from far and near to say a last farewell. Mr. and Mrs. M'Beth, assisted by Miss M'Beth, entertained their guests in their customary hospitable manner. Tennis, clock golf, competitions, vocal and instrumental music made the time pass merrily. At the set of sun all joined in wishing the departing friends a safe and pleasant voyage and a speedy return. During Dr. Beedie's absence his brother, who has but recently arrived from the Homeland, will act as his locum tenens. Croquet' Club Competitions. The following are the results of the games played in the Ferryside Croquet Club competitions on the last two Saturdays;— ilandicap Singles.—Mr. Mabin beat Miss V. Zohrab in the semi-final, but was beaten by Mrs. Cardale in the final. Championship Singles—First round; Mrs. Mandel beat Mrs. Geddis; Mr. Mandel beat Miss Von Dadelszen. Second round: Mrs. Nicol beat Miss Sim; Miss Mandel beat Mr. Beere; Mrs. Mandel beat Miss Mnudsley; Miss Bentlcy beat Mr. Mandel; Miss V. Zohrab beat Dr. M'Gcorge; Mrs. M'Villy beat Mrs. Whitehouse. Third round: Mrs. Cardale beat Misses Edmondson and M'Eldowney by default; Miss Mandel beat Mrs. Nicol; Miss Bentley beat Mrs. Mandel. Mr. T. C4race has given a trophy for a doubles competition, to 1m played for at Easter, and the committee is now taking entries from members. Tha conditions of play are being advised. Manawatu Ladies' Golf Club. At tha annual meeting of the Manawatu Ladies' Golf Club, held at Palmerston North on Monday night, the report showed that last year there were 45 plaving members and 47 honorary members. Mrs. G. Williams, of Masterton, won the championship, Miss G. Gorrie being runner-up. Airs. Williams and Miss May tied for the Frceth Cup, and Miss Coombes won the Challenge Cup presented by Mr. L. Seifert. It was decided to hold the local tournament early in September. The following officers; were elected:—Captain, Mrs. G. Slack; secretary, Mrs. H. C. Mellsop; committee, Mesdames Wnrburton, J. Strang, and Fitzherbert, with Mrs. M'Donald as junior representative.

Mrs. Donald Donald, Lansdowne, Masterton, is visiting .Wellington. The engagement is announced of Mr. George Hunter, of the East Coast, and Miss Margaret Buchanan, of Glencoss, Tikokino, Hnwke's Bay. Miss Buchanan is tho eldest daughter of Mr. J. J. Buchanan, J.P., of Glencoss, JTikokino, and Fairstream, Blackburn. : fMiss Wolters, Carterton, is a visitor to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. F. Moore, of Wangnnui, aro in town to meet Mrs. Spencer Beard and her daughters, formerly of Masterton, who are expected to arrive in New Zealand, by tho Remuera after several years spent in England. Mrs % Cotter (Greytown) and her sister, Miss Sara Jackson, are staying at Day's Bay. Our Palmerston correspondent writes that the annual meeting of tho Hinemoa (Ladies') Hockey Club was held on Monday night. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit of .£5.
