AUSTRALIAN PRESS DELEGATES.
VISIT TO WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph-Special Correspondent.) Taumarunui, March 20. The Australasian Provincial Press Association representatives, who went from their conference at Aucklnnd to Rotorua, held a special meeting nt Rotorua to consider (he itinerary of their tour. Rome had to return this week to Australia, and others wanted to spend several days inV\ ollington to investigate municipal development in the capital city, also to gather political, and other data which is to be used in writing special articles. It was found necessary to cut out tho two days given on tho itinerary to (.lie (rip down the Wanganui River." At Rotorua on Monday the party split up, Mr. M'Millan (the acting-secroiary) and his wifo returned to Sydney from Aucklnnd. three delegates went on ahead to Wellington, several others put in an extra day at Rotorua, and the rest went Across to' the Waitomo Caves, from which thev reached heie to-night. They are to join the down trunk express train from Auckland, and the reunited party will arrive in Wellington to-morrow (Wednesday) afternoon. Whilst at Wnitomo the party received a message of welcome from' the ITon. T. Mackenzie, who had been warmly thanked for the courtesies extended to them by him as Minister for Tourist Resorts. Tho delegation hopes to meet, members of the new Cabinet to talk over Pacific cable matters. An invitation has also been received from the proprietors of the daily papers of AVellington to take part in a harbour excursion on Thursday. Only a few of the delegates will extend their tour into the South Island, the party practically breaking up in Wellington on Friday or Saturday.
