PIPE BRIDGE APPROACHES.
ANOTHER MOVE BY THE PETONE ■ COUNCIL. At the meeting of the Petone Council last evening, the. borough clnrk reported that 'he had written to' the Acting-Town Clerk of Wellington to the effect that it would not be necessary to call for a further loan from the ratepayers in order to complete the extension of Jackson Street aud tho approaches to tho Pine Bridge. It appears, however, that although it has been stated that a settlement regarding the approach to tho pine bridge has bean arrived at, the warrant authorising tho Petone Borough Council to proceed has not yet been issued. The Mayor piplained that the Petone Council has agreed to the draft warrant, and it now remained to obtain the approval of tho other parties concerned. Iγ. tho meantime the city solicitor had written to the Under-Socretary for Public Works in order to fix a. day for the application of the warrant, as it appears to be certain there will bo no opposition.
