YACHTING.
SATURDAY'S RACES. The weather conditions for Saturday's yacht and launch races could not hrive been, more favourable, consequently a (rood afternoon's racing \yns enjoyed. The Port Nicholson Yacht Cluli decided two races, the 'J'e Aro Sailing Club one, and the Motor Boat Club also decided a race. A light southerly wind prevailed, which enabled most of the yachts to carry lopsails, presenting a pretty picture. Results:— First-class Yachts. Mahina (12miiO 1 Murittii (15min.) 2 Siren (lGmin.) 3 This race started at 3 p.m., and four yachts competed. The limit boat, Viking, crossed the line one minute late, the rest of the competitors getting good starts. When Hearing the finish, the Maliina and Muvitai were seen to be jiaving a great struggle for first /ormFr just getting home a few sec<siiS3j hhead of her rival. The finishing times were as fnlloir.—Molii'm, sh. .TSinin. lOsee.; Mnrilni, oh. 33min. 'losec.; Siren, slu 4-lmin.; Viking (28min.), Mi. -ilimin. The scratch yacht, Wailnmji, was cruisng around, but did not start in the race. Second-class Yachts. Lizzie (>cr.) 1 'i'oipari (scr.l 2 First place In tills race was fougiit out by three yacht!;, viz., Lizzie, Taipari, and lfaiveiie. .I'o.'itinns in this race ivere gained oa-ily, us i\ good distance separated the three boats from each other. The finishing times weiv: Lizzie, sh. lSmin.; Taipari,. sh. 33min. 3,*>scc; Kawene (12min.), sh. 35min.
To Aro Sailing Club. Kaitare (Imin.) 1 Valeta. (Smin.) 2 Nan (scr.) 3 In this event four "scows" competed, and all liuished fairly close to each other. ICaitaio finished at 4.110 p.m., followed four minutes later by Valeta, and the Nan finished at 4.41 p.m. Geisha (scr.) finished at 1.42 p.m. Launches, llaui i Toamii ; 2 Tender ;) The Port Nicholson Motor Boat Club held the last championship race over (lie Seatouu course, and about seven launches competed. The starting times we-ro as follow.—Tender, 3 p.m.; Maui, 3.5 p.m.; Mnnnitni. 3.1G p.m.; Toanui, 3.2 C.30 p.m.; Naomi 111, 3.27.30 p.m.; Waitohi, 5.30 p.m.; Scotia, 3.2.1 p.m.; and Waione, 4.5 p.m. Tho launches lhiisjicd fairly close together at tho following times:—Maui, 4.4U p.m.; Toanui, 1.17.35 p.m.; Tender, 4.48 p.m.; Naomi 111, 4.49.56 p.m.; Waitoln. 4.48.40 p.m.; Scotia, 4.51.17 p.m.; Waione, 4.52.37 p.m. Yesterday the To Huru Sailing Club held a delightful outing at Lowry Bay. There was a large number of yachts present, including several launches. Afternoon tea was sen-od, and a short sports programme was carried out.
