MR. ROBERTSON AND OTAKI.
Sir,—JFr. Robertson has, by his vote and breach of pledge, ciuite alieuated himself from the confidence of tho majority of those who vofed for Jiiin at the lab general election—of those whose votes secured his return. ' Xor will his llinisy excuses and suave toiißue palliate in the least his grave offpnco in his In-each of faith. Doubtless those of the Opposition party ivho supported Jlr. Kobertson, and whose support he is main- , ly indebted for his victory on the distinct understanding that he would assist: by his vote in ousting the "Ward Government-" are now, alas, when too late, regretting having chosen a broken reed. But the victory will bo short and defeat certain at the first, opportunity, so Mr. linhcrtsau had bettor make tho most of Iβ.' short time lv.> will mis-represent Otaki electorate'in Parliament. I may say that J had Mr. Kobortson's personal', assurance that he would support a vote of no confidence in the Ward Government. Should Mr. Robertson have tho audacity to contest the seat at a future date he will find his broken pledges will redound upon liiui, and he will retire not willingly from Otaki a sadder but. it is to lie hoped, wiser man; for let Mr. Kob<?rt?on bear this in mind: Th? (laxworlcers alone .cannot, carry the election in the Otaki electorate—not by a kng-'way.—l am, etc., PARAPAIUUMU. March 11.
