Yesterday morning Sir Joseph Ward, on behalf of the Ministerial secretaries, made a presentation to Mr. James Hislop, late secretary to the ex-l'riinc Minister, on the occasion of his promotion to the position of Under-Secretary to tho Department of Internal Affairs. Sir Joseph Ward said that it afforded him great pleasure to participate in the well-deserv-ed recognition which tho private secretaries were making of their long association with Mr. Hislop, to whoso'integrity and ability daring the twelve years ho had been associated with him ho paid a high compliment. Sir Joseph Ward wished Mr. Hislop every success in his new sphere of labour. Mr. Hislop suitably responded. The presentation consisted of a silver rose bowl, suitably inscribed. Tho Sunday School Anniversary of tho Central Mission will be held to-morrow, when three special services will be conducted in the Town Hall Concert Chamber. Tho Rev. C. H. Olds, who shortly leaves Wellington for the Chnstchurcn Central Mission, will preach in tho morning; at the afternoon gathering at 3 o'clock, an address will bo delivered by Miss Webster, a missionary, recently arrived from China; and, in the evening, at 7. tho Rev. E. 0. Blamircs will be in charge. The scholars of tho school have Ireen practising for several weeks past tho special music, and will render hymns at each service to-morrow, under tho direcMr. W\ E.
