.MR. DEAUCHAMP'S RETIREMENT/ Sir Joseph Ward stated yesterday, in reply to a question as to why Mr. lu.rold Beauchamp, chairman of the Board of Directors of Ihe Bank of New Zealand, was not reappointed to the directorate, that Mr. Bcnuchamp had officially intimated that, 011 account o£ the state ol his health, lie did not intend to seek reappointment. "I have received a lettei from Mr. Boauehamp, written from London, to tli-.tt ellect. There is, therefore," said tlie Prime Minister, "110 reflection on Mr. Beauchamp, who has carried out his responsible duties in a thoroughly satisfactory manner." It is understood that Mr. Martin Kennedv will succeed Mr. Beouchanip in the position of president.
