(From Our Own Correspondent.) Masterton, March 15. The shareholders of the Masterton Workers' Mutual Benefit Building Society met last night, and disposed of £300 by ballot and .6300 by tender. Mr. H. T. Wood was successful at the ballot. A couplo of unimportant by-law cases were heard in the Magistrate's Court this morning... Duringithe last few months there has.been ah immunity from crime in this district. ■ . Mr. C. Ellers, of Masterton, won the points prize at the Ahiaruh'e sports on Thursday. Masterton competitors wore also successful at tho Alfredton eports, held on the same day. At the monthly meeting of the District High School Committee last evening arrangements were made for the official opening of the new Assembly Hall after the Kastcr holidays. The headmaster reported the average attendance at the main school to be 591, at the side school 174, and ut the secondary classes 65. The performance of Miss Annie O'Leary in winning the ladies' swimming championship of New Zealand is to be suitably recognised by the students of the Masterton District High School. A large number of Territorials leave here to-morrow for the camp at Takapau.
