LEVIN SPtiRTS MEET3IQ,
DUNCAN ON RECORDS. Following ■ hard upon A. T. Duncan's excellent running at Karori last Saturday (comments our contributor "Mercury") came another good day's work nt Levin on Wednesday.' In: fact, his work on this occasion seems too good to be true. Briefly summed up, it was: ' First 100 yds. handicap in 10 l-sscc. First 150 yds. hamlicup iu 15sec. /.First 220 yds. .handicap in 22soc. .Thus ho brok'6 n. T\'ew-Ze'Ai;afjcl, record once, and equalled it once—the 'fracture being sustained by the 150 yds. distance. The 220 yds. clocking equals Opie's record run of last March in Chnstclnu'ch, nnd, according to tho "Horo'ivhenua Chronicle," there is no reason to doubt tho correctness of the timing, which was taken by threo watches in capable hands. Moreover, tho same authority states that a remeasurement of the tracks found them all correct. At the same time, with all due respect to the "Chronicle," this sudden leap into the record-breaking class on Duncan's part is rather startling—good sprinter as ho is known to be. Further developments from Duncan aro anxiously awaited. Duncan was not tho only Wellingtonian presont, as the prize list snows. D. Casey Mid W. Kyan followed him home in that order in the "furlong," nivl the same two in reverse order in tho "hundred." The half-mile was won by that eood trier J. Finn, and in the 120 yds.' hurdles A. C. Kitto got his usual "place"—a second this time.
