MASTERTON NOTES.
(By Telegraph— Special Correspondent,) Masterton, March 11. The annual meeting of tho Masterton Golf Club was held to-night, Mr. 11. G. Williams presiding. The annual report showed a substantial reduction in the Ixink overdraft. The total membership of the club was shown to bo 132. The services of Mr. William M'Ewen, professional golfer, have been secured for two weeks from April 1:1. Mr. 11. G. Williams was re-rlected president; Messrs. 11. .11. lSectlmtii and A. H. Lawrence vice-presi-dents; and Mr. W. W. Gabifes secretary. It was decided lo open the season on April Kl. A successful sports meeting was held at Alfredton to-day, at which a number of Masterton athletes competed. Mr. .1. M'Master, who is severing his connection.with tho Masterton Post Office, was to-day tho recipient of a handsome present from tho members of the staff. At the ovening run to-day in connection with the Wnirarapa Athletic Club, tho 100 ynrds event was won by Roy Messenger, and the 440 yards raco by .1. W. Nicholson.
