In the Assembly, Mr. Wade (Leader of tho Opposition) opposed the Bill increasing members' salaries to .£SOO, and providing the Lender of the Opposition with an extra allowance of ,£250. Thero was nothing, he said, to justify members of the House with any sense "of self-respect voting themselves this remuneration without warrant from their constituents. He urged they must conBult the electors. Ho would not bo a party to imposing heavy burdens on the taxpayers.
