STEAMER MANUKAU COMES TO GRIEF, IBr Tcleeraph-Presi Association.' Waitara, March 13. ' Tho steamer Manukau, of 45 tons, trading between Mokau and Waitara. and owned by a private , company, Bayly, Ogle, and Co., ennid to'grief last evening off the Waitara Bar. She was'endeavouring to enter, when a heavy squall obscured the beacons and other guides, and, getting out of the channel, she drifted on to the sand bank during the night, .when there was a heavy sea. She settled down in the sand, with her .stern to the sea. The vessel has opened up at her seaward end, and wnter has entered tho boiler. Sho has lifted slightly. It is improbable she will be got off.
