THE QUESTION OF UNITING. WHAT HEADQUAIiTERS? At a meeting of the Northern Bowling Association last nig-lit the question of tho amalgamation of the several societies existing in Now Zealand was considered. Mr. J. S. Keith presided, and there were about 30 members present. It was reported that during the annual tournament (in Wellington) a mass meeting of bowlers had resolved that, '.ho time had arrived when there should bo ono association for New Zealand, and that the Northern Association should endeavour to effect that. Since then the New Zealand Association (South Island) had affirmed the principle of amalgamation, and had decided to draft a proposed constitution. Tho chairman commented on delays which ho alleged the southern association had been guilty of, and said that at the usual rate of the South Island people the draft need not be expected till this time next year. Colonel Collins stated that he had. no faith in tho promises from .Dunedin. The whole crux of the question was the headquarters of tho association, and when tho promised draft constitution came forth they would see that Dunedin was named as the headquarters. When the question had been considered on a certain occasion. Wellington delegates had not claimed the headquarters for Wellington, hut had named Dunedin as the first place, Auckland second, Christchurch third, and Wellington fourth. The Northern Association ought not to wait much longer. Wellington would have Canterbury und other centres behind it. Mr. E. J. Uill and others spoke strongly in favour of everything being dono in a conciliatory spirit. It was resolved, on the motion oi Mr. T. Bush, seconded by Colonel Collins:— "That the secretary be instructed to write to tho N.Z.8.A., stating the pleasure of this council at receipt of the information that the conneil of the N.Z.B.A. had affirmed tho principle of amalgamation, and express the "hope that it may become an accomplished fact at an early data; also, to inform the N.Z.B.A. that, as this association is practically working without constitution und rules, it is essential that a constitution acceptable to both bodies should be framed without delay, and. to that end, request the council of tho N.Z.B.A. to supply this council with o draft cony of the rules within three months from date."
