FEILDING, A special cominilt.ee of llio Borough Council met the Wellington directors of the Feilding Gas Company in committoo on Monday evening, and discussed matters concerning the lighting of t.he borough. A report will be made to Thursday's meeting of the council. At the Primitive Methodist Church last night there was a large attendance of members. Part of tho evening was allofed to a ballot of church members on the important question of Church union. The voting was entered into heartily, but the results will not bo known until announced from connexiona.l headquarters. Afterwards a "social" was held. Presentation of a dressing outfit, on behalf of friends, was made to the Rev. A. 11. I'owles, who left yesterday for Dunedin. Tho annual meeting of tho Feilding Choral Society was held on Monday evening, Mr. H. Temple White presiding. The conductor's report reviewed tho work done by the society during tho seven and' a half-years of its existence, and Mr. White predicted a hopeful future. The following aro the officers for the ensuing year:— President, Mr. D. H. Guthrie, M.P. Messrs. Richmond, Goodbehere, and Montgomery were re-elected vice-presidents. Mr. 11. Templo White and Mrs. Richmond wero re-elected to tho positions of conductor and pianist respectively. Librarian, Miss Calvert; treasurer, MV. F.' CampbcJl; committee, Mesdames Short and Montgomery, and Miss Tone;, Messrs. Morphy, Gifford, and Eddlesten.

GREYTOWN. Messrs. Webster, Udy, Skanley, and Workman, who left Greytown on Saturday morning, with Mount Hector as their objective, only reached Mount Alpha, as a snowstorm came up and blocked them. On Saturday they reached tho Tauheriniknu Gorge and camped there, leaving on Sunday morning for Mount Hector, via Omega and Alpha. When they reached the latter point the storm suddenly came on and caught them in summer attire. Ope of tho party took some snapshots of tlie others in their dilemma. A return to camp was made as expeditiously as possible, and from there they travelled home, reaching Greytown about 5 p.m. On returning home a telegram was received from Mr. W. H. Field stating that tho storm had blocked his party on the Otaki side.
