ONE FAHTHING DAMAGES. (Di Toleerasb.—Press Association.) Napior, March 12. The action for liljel, Simsoa v. tho "Hawke's liny Tribune," concluded this afternoon. The jury auswered tho issues as follows:— Is the paragraph published in tho "Tribune" a libel on plaintiff?—" Yes." Has the paragraph the meaning alleged bv plaintiff?—" Yes." 'is the paragraph, if it has such a meaning, truer—"Yes." Did tho plaintiff, in the month of December, 1005, assault Henderson Carries, as alleged in paragraph (a) of paragraph 4 of the statement of defence?— 'les. Did plaintiff, on May 14, 1909 assault one Victoria Wertheimcr as alleged in paragraph (b) of paragraph 4 of tho statement of defence?—" No. , T . Did plaintiff, in tho month of July, 1907, assault F. Corbnuid, ns alleged in paragraph (c) of paragraph 4 of (he statement of defence ?-"Yes. _ What damages (if any) is plaintiff entitled to recover from defendant?- One farthing." , . ~_ ~ . . Mr Kkerretr, for plnintnff, applied for imirment on the findings, but the Judge stated that he would reserve the matter for further consideration in Welling!on, as the finding was inconsistent, in that the jurv found that there was a libel, and that the paragraph published in tho "Tribuno" was true.
