HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Ilutt County Council was held yesterday. There wcro present Councillors J. AVakcham (in tho chair), AV. Gallowav, T. Edwards, J. AVhiteman, M. AV. Welch, and AV. J. Howell. The report of the inspector of works (Mr. J. AV. Cudby) stated that the bridge near Mr. Bcavis's house at Aliatnrawn wa.s gradually subsiding. The inspector recommended' that some 10 x 10 piles be driven in. On the AVainui-o-mata Valley Road below Mr. Scholes's the ( bridge known as tho "crooked bridge" was in need of repair, and for this some 12.i0 feet of hardwood would be required.—The report was adopted. Uunnv waited on the council and on behalf of.'Mr. Eric Riddiford offered .1300 for expenditure on the Orongorongo Road—The offer.was accepted. A denization from the Horowhenua Countv" Council waited on the council with reference to the Xgatiawa llrulce, part of which is in (he llarowhenuit Countv and nart in the Unit County, hie deputation asked that the Ilutt County should bear one-lhird of (be total eo.-t of ,£7.-|o.—On the uuitfer being il was ronsideivd that the Tc'iiuest could not be acceded In, lull Councillor \\.
