HELD PLOTS.

SUGGESTED FOR WAIKAHAPA. Further particulars of the agricultural experiments suggested to the Masterton A. and P. Association by Mr. G. <lc Baylis, of the Agricultural Department, and referred to yesterday, are given in tho following letter to tho association from Mr. Baylis:"Tho following experiments are suggested for the consideration of your Experiment Committee;— Autumn sowing: Half acre Garton's pcrcjinialised Italian rj-e; half acre Western Wolfhs grass; one acre mixture of prairie grass, Italian ryo, and red clover on good alluvial or moderately stiff loams; one aero Hennchen barley, for the same purpose (sheep feed) as Cape barley is used; one acre Imperial Aiiibor (Canadian winter wheat); one acre Hed Fife (Canadian.) wheat to be sown in late autumn; one aeri l!ed Fife wheat to be sown in the spring; one acre winter variety wheat, to bo sown in autumn on some stony land at Opaki, upon which peas have been grown this season; one aero of stony land at Opaki, upon which peas have been grown this season to bo resown with peas, and Inter peas to be ploughed in ami land prepared for lucerne. Mr. Baylis also suggested that areas of Triumph, Victory, White Ligqwo, and Beardless Propsteier oats be autumn sown, fed off in the usual way, and allowed to run for a corn crop next season, a similar area of Algerian oats being put in alongside-, and a record kept of tho grazing obtained and the corn yielded by each variety. Mr. Baylis recominmded the following experimental plots being conducted for spring sowing:—Plots of maize and kale, maize (pure), and maize and turnips for sheep feed, and maize for dairy feed, and also mangolds, pea varieties, lucerne, sainfoin, and soya beans.
