In the mon's pennant competition on Saturday, Petone I! defeated I'otone A liy ■1 sets to 1, '15 games to 20. H. Caverhill v. Hope, 9—o (default); Thompson v. Kenn, 7—o; Udy v. Duncan, 9—o (default); L. Caverhill v. Wilkinson, 9—5.; Thompson and Caverhill v. Kean and Duncan, 9—G. On .Saturday afternoon, in the pre&pnco of a large crowd, Mr. VC. H. P. Barber (chairman of directors of the Potono AVcollon Mills) opened the newly-i'ormed tennis courts, which are a gift by tho directors to the employees. A strong club has been formed, and it is proposed to devote the remainder of this season to practice, nnd enter the club contests next year. Afterneon ten was served l>y the ladios, after which several games were played. Mr. H. Fleet has been appointed secretary of the club.
