TRINITY COLLEGE PASSES. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, March 11. At the Police Court to-day, before Mr. A. D. Thomson, S.M., John Parkinson wns fined 20s. and costs for having an unstamped weighing-machine in his possession. Two youth?, named Leonard Mextcd and Joseph M'Avenue, were charged with failing' to attend parade* of the Territorials. The first-named stated that he had been away harvesting, .but would attend parades in future. Fie was ordered to pay covts. M'Avenuo was fined .CI and costs. Daniel Muir and Alexander Johnston were charged with plnring "twolip" on a-railway train between PaJmers'ton and Linton. Accused were fined GOs. each and costs. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Ellen Kearney, a barmaid, who did not appear, was fined £2 for not joining the Hotel Workers' Union. Miss Kearney is said to be out of the Dominion at present, and there will bo difficulty in enforcing the fine. The local corps of the Salvation Army commenced their annual harvest thanksgiving festival yesterday, the services being conducted by adjutant and Mrs. Gunn, assisted by Mrs. Collins, a Scottish singer. Tho hall 'was decorated for the occasion, and special musical items were rendered. Tho Technical School Cadets completed shooting for the 31' Nab shield on Saturday. The winner, who holds the shield for the ensuing year, is Cadet Speed. His score was 70; Cadet Alsop was runner-up with 07. A number of members of the Manawatu Cycle Club made a run to Foxlon yesterday, where.a picnic was held, Mr. P. C. Daniell's oil launch Tamora being utilised to convey them to the Heads. Notwithstanding the rough weather, a pltnsant time was snent. Tho Kev." Frank M'Donald, of the local Baptist Church, has received a unanimous call to the pastorate of tho Baptist Church nt ?vorth-East Valley, Dunedin. Mr. M'Donald has not yet decided what he will do in the matter. Messrs. S. E. Lancaster and W. T. Penny, secretary of the Manawatu A. and P. Association, returned from the Auckland district on Saturday. They made the trip for the special purpose of attending the Waikato show, with the object of conferring with exhibitors there'as to arranging better facilities for railing show stock to tho various shows there and at Palmerston. A meeting was hold and a special effort is to be made to induce the Hnilway Department to make better arrangements for future shows. Mr. Penny secured a number of new members- for the Manawatu A. and P. Association, and also a number of promises to exhibit here. Mr. A. J. Graham, of Palmerston, secretary of the Trinity College of Music, has received the results of local examinations in musical knowledge:—Preparatory division: Ira Masters, 95: Frank M'Xachlnn, fS. .Lower division, junior: Doris Lowe, !)1, honours; Keren Jean Koss. 00, honours. T/Ower division* grade 2: Georgina Carson, 7G; Jeanio Thomson, 70; Olive Bergerson, 69: Kathleen Sanson. 6G. The Palmerston Swimming Club holds swimming contests at the baths here on Wednesday. Craven Girls' School held the annual sports gathering at the Awapuni racecourse on Saturday afternoon, when thort> .was a largo gathering of parents nnd friende of the pupils. The challenge cups were won by J. Lethbridgo, with 23 points; and'the Helm Crawford cup by P. Harden ( with 14 points. The return cricket match between Palmerston nnd Dannevirke will be played at the latter place next Saturday.
