FOOTBALL. COLLEGE OLD BOYS' CLUB. ANNUAL REI'OBT. The fourteenth annual report of tho Wellington College Old Boys' Football Club states that the club has an active membership of 5-t, and 46 honorary and four life members. Tho balance-sheet bhotvs a credit balance of £2 18s. 9d., which is deemed satisfactory. The committee desires to thank Messrs. J. P. Firth, W. E. Bethune, W. C. Alexander, and Dr. Young for donations. The seniors ployed 17 matches, won -, lost 13, and drew 2. Tho junior played 10 matches, won 1, lost 9. It is to be sincerely hoped, says the report, that the club will never again have to record a season so unsuccessful as tho one under review. At the commencement of tho season, although a largo number had retired, there were indications of a good senior team, a good third, and a fair fourth. Tho Uugby Union, contrary to usual custom, refused clubs having any break in their entries for the various grades. In consequence, players lacking weight and experience were asked to play iu grades much too high for them. There could be I>u6 ono result. With tho seniors the season was tho hardest and longest on record. Injuries, illness, and removals played havoc with the team, and great difficulty was experienced in meeting engagements, The tournament, held last year in Wellington, was a success. B)* / defeating Uhi'istchurch High School Old Boys (It points to 3) in tho final, the club secured the shield, and it is hoped will retain it at this year's competition «t Christohurcli. "The committee would have been pleased to record that steps had been taken to carry out the recommendation of last year's general meeting in regard to securing a permanent gymnasium. The condition and-prospects of the club appeared fo poor that the committee did not feel warranted in inking action. There is no doubt the club docs not receive its worth from the amount annually expended on our present gymnasium arrangements. Tho incoming committee is not recommended to rent a gymnasium, but to make arrangements whereby the members Ban indulge in out-of-door training. YACHTING. A moderate breeze from the north-west on Saturday enabled the Port Nicholson Yacht Club to decide two races, for first and second-class yachts respectively. Three boats started in tho first-class event and four in the second-class' race. In the latter event, Enwene started 12 minutes late, and Taipari 15 minutes after time. Waitangi and Viking did not start in the first-class race and To Rlniun did not finish in the second-class. The yawl Muritni (21min.) won ,the firstclass race easily, finishing at +.49 p.m., with Siren (lomin.) second, at 4.53/ p.m., and' Manilla (ISmin.) third at 4.54 p.m. Lizzie (scr.) finished first in tho secondclass race at 5.2 p.m., followed i minutes later by Itaweuo (3min.), and Taipari ,'2min.),* third, the last-named coming in at 5.11 p.m. The To Hhuna, which was scratch, started,. but did not finish.
