ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FALL IN SHIP'S HOLD. Yesterday morning, a wharf labourer named John Cic'.o fell down the hold of the steamer Kaikqura, and received severe injuries lo his back. The injured man is at present an inraato of the hospital. INJURED AND UNIDENTIFIED. A few days ago a man was knocked down by a car, rendered unconscious, was taken to tbo hospital, and died without being identified. Another accident of a similar nature occurred at tho corner of Bunny and Featherston Streets on Thursday evening, the victim being a woman. At a late hour lost night she was still unconscious at the hospital, and had uot been identified, though the police had made the usual inquiries called for under- such circumstances. Tho injured womnn was wearing a brown coat, a brown straw hat trimmed with brown silk, and a pair o_f crystal glass ear-rings. She is apparently about •15 years of age, has brown hair and eyes. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. A woman named Florence M'Anally, aged 28 years, attempted to cut her throat at the Strand Cafe, Dixon Street, at an early hour yesterday afternoon, and had to be removed to the hospital. She. did not seriously injurn herself, and it is expected that she will recover. DEATH AT THE HOSPITAL. John M'Carthy, a young man about 2-4 years of age, who was on Wednesday last arrested for drunkenness, and was reniaudod for medical treatment, died in the hospital last night.
