AUCKLAND LABOUR TROUBLE.
MEETING OF TRAM WORKERS. (Bt Tolczraph—Prcse Ai«odatlon.) Auckland, March 6. Tho officials of tho Federation of Labour aro very reticent as to their intentwns with regard lo the unsettled dispute between the general labourers of Auckland, and thuir employers. "All that 1 want to sny," eaid Mγ. Webb, "I will sny to tho men themselves." Mr. Parry has taken up tho snuie attitudo. This morning a meeting of tramway workers (afternoon shift men) was held to discuss tho position. Tho meeting mas not open to tho press. It was ascertained that the meeting was absolutely unanimous in its decision to place tho union entirely in the hands of tho Federation of Labour. Other resolutions were passed endorsing tho action of the Federation in the dispute. "THE GONG WILL SOUND." It is understood that tho intontiona of the Labour Federation wcro to some extent announced to-day at a meeting of the Tramway Union. A reporter obtained information to the effect that tho president and vice-president of tho federation, tha president of the General Labourers' Union, and Mr. Scott Bennett (Socialist) addressed tho meetings. In tho course of their remarks it. was understood that thoy made it clear that they aro engaged in a campaign of organisation of all unions, affiliated or connected with the federation, in tho Dominion, and when this ii finished, if tho federation is not recogniscd by the employers to the extent of granting a conference, the gong will sound for a general strike, which, if complete, will involve 1700 or 1800 men.
