"WOMEN ONLY."
• Tho London County Council, which owns most of tho tramways riuimiiß into London, has decided (says the London correspondent of tho "Sydney Telegraph ),to reserve some ot the ears for the exclusive uso of lrimnn, The object' of this is not lo counteract the femalo tendency-to raid the apartments which are supposed to lie reserved for smokers, but to enable business women to «et to and from the city in good time, instead of being left behind until thero is no crush, and all the lords of creation, whether in the form, of portly business men or eager office boys, have been served. Tho London County Council will not allow passengers (o stand up in their cars and hold on to straps, but refuses to take them unless sents are available, and therefore those passengers who wish to get to their work by a certain time must be prepared to share in the scramble for seats which takes place at busy sections. In the past a woman who insisted on being treated as man's cmtal in these scrambles had to risk having- nor lint damaged and her dress torn. Most of tho London trams are double-deckers, the top being closed in with glass like the bottom part.
