The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report as follows :-At our Waikanae sale yesterday we offered 2500 sheep to a full representation of buver= who were present from Palmcrston North,"Loncburn. Levin, Wellington, and also the surrounding districts, and, under the hammer and ffi va , tel y afterwards, we disposed of over 2000 sheep et highly satisfactory prices, ine sale dragged somewhat at tho commencement, but improved as it progressed. Old ewes in low condition w-3re a drug on the market, and our passed-in lots consisted of this class. The following are a few of our rates :-A big line of '.our-tooth maiden ewes, on account of Mr. Robert Kelson, at 145., and another lin3 of 4-tooth wothers on behalf of the same owner made 145.; on account of Mrs. Hadfield, Linaale Estate, 140 four, six, and eight-tooth ewes, at 12s. 6d.; ou account of the same owner, a line of small two-tooth ewes 11s 3d ; on account of Mr. H. C. Phillips, 150 l.t.m. ewes. 11s. 6d.; on account of Mr John Smith, Paekakariki, 257 two-tooth wothers. 11s. Bd. ; on account of the same owner, 100 f.f.m. ewes, 10s. 6d.; on account of Messrs. A. Burling and sons, a line of rape lambs, 6horn, at Bs. 3d.; on account of the same, owners, a line of full-mouth 2wes, Ids.: a line of four-tooth wethers. 13s. 6d. Cattle-Two-year heifers, in calf, to £4 16s. 6d.; springing heifers, to £6 155.; twenty-months Meers, £3 15;=.; weaner calves. 235. 6d.; bulls, to £2 11s. Messr3. James Macintosh and Co. report having held their first sale at tho Upper Opaki yards yesterday, when they offered on account pf several farmers in that district, a, good yarding of sheep and cattle but .unfortunately a long way under advertised numbers, owing to several lines of lambs . not coming forward. Competition throughout tba sale was very spirited, especially for good breeding ewes and forward wethers, and consequently the firm are pleased to report having had a good clearancs, the whole yarding being Eold under the hammer except 62 ewes. In cattlo dairy heifers (in calf) and cows on tho drop sold well up to lato rates. 4486 cto's, 11s. Id.; four-year-old ewes, 11s. Zd.; four and five-year ewes, 9s. IOd.; five-year-old ewes (poor condition), 75.; 468 f.m. cw°s (poor condition), 7s. 6d. to 9s. 6d.; two-tooth wethers, 11b. 7d. to 11s. 9d.; sound-mouth ewes, 9s. lOd. to 10s. 4d.; forward store owes, 9s. Bd., 9s. 9d., to 9s. lid.; small woolly lambs, ss. to 6s. 4d. Cattle: Dairy heifers, to £3 165.; cowb at drop, really good, £7 17s. 6d. to £8 2s. 6d.
