CARTERTON.

The secretary of the South Wairarapa Poultry Association has received advice from the North Island Poultry Association, Auckland, that the dates, July 17 and 18, have been approved of for the annual show of poultry at Carterton. Mr. W. Miller was the only nomination received as a member of the Wairarnpa Licensing Bench. The further necessary appointments will now be made by his Excellency the Governor. Mr. A. K. Wore, who has for some weeks past been managing the Carterton branch of Messrs. George Davics, Ltd., tailors, left on Monday en route for Australia. The Carterton friends of Mr. George Ritchie, who is an inmate of the Tnihape Hospital, will be pleased to hear that he is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. The s.s. Kaipara, leaving for Home on Thursday next, will take 1008 cases of cheese from the Wairarapa to the approximate value of .£5120. The Dalefield factorv contributes •' -100 cases; Pnrkvale, 170"; Belvedere. 15S; Taratahi, 130; Corrington, 70; Ahraruhe, 45; Longbush, 29. Mr. J. E. Cave, of Martinborough, was the successful tenderer for an appropriation of ,4300 by sale in connection with the 'Wairarapa Term'inating Building Society. The tender was ,£2l 10s. for each ■£150, the upset price of which is .£2O. Mrs. Cobb, sen., of Napier, is at present on a visit to friends at Carterton.
