(From Our Special Correspondent.) SHANNON. The annual school picnic to I'limnicrton iast week was a groat success. Over one hundred children and a large number of parents, and residents look advantage of the hue weather and journeyed to this popular seaside resort. A runaway horse and trap created some excitement 'at a late hour on Saturday night. After a strenuous pursuit. Mr. 'I'. Watterston captured the fugitive near the end of the Fast Ho.id. liros. Jenkins, Wiggins, Oraham, and Couper have been elected a committee for the usual social and dance held by. the Druids on Ivjstcr Monday night. At last week's meeting of the local lodge a vote of thanks with musical honours, was enthusiastically accorded J)ro. C. H. Gardiner for the admirable manner in' which he Ims performed the duties of secretary. During the evening S.P.G. Brn. 'J'". Lind presented Bro. Wiggins with a handsome member's collar to c:uumemorate the fact that he was the 100 th member of the lodge. (Jn Friday afternoon Mr. Nash, Mayor of Palniers'ton North, opened the Horticultural Show organised by the Ladies' (.iuild of the Presbyterian Church. The hall was vorv tastefully decorated, there being a splendid display of farm produce, (lowers, home industries, etc. The following were the winners of the points prizes:—Pot plants, Mrs. White; cut blooms. Mrs. Gallaud; vegetables, Mrs. Gallaud; farm produce, Moutoa School decorative, Mrs. Pedorsen; home industries, Mrs. Aim; cooking, 51 rs. Kyrie. Heavy rain- on Saturday afternoon and evening unfortunately interfered with the attendance. Mesdames Grcig and Boyes (Foxtail), Mrs. Nash and Mr. Sh'ailor (I'almierston North) were the. judges. The proceeds amounted to about .£SO.
