DIVERSION OP DOUBTLESS BIT LINE. The new cable which is being laid by the Pacific Cable Board from Sydney to Auckland, for the construction and laying of which a tender has just been accepted, will be landed on the West Coast, some distance north of the Manukau Heads. It will be brought across tha isthmus in a trench to a poiut probably a short distance below Rivorhead. It will thence 1m laid down the harbour : probably as far as Ponsonby (Auckland. \ The cable from Norfolk Island is to be ) also diverted from Doubtless Bay, and to bo brought down the East Coast to Taka- ' puna. It will then be brought across the Narrow Neck and the Auckland Harbour, probably emerging near the PonGonby reef. Both this cablo and the Sydney cable will be brought into Auckland to \ the new chief post office, where the new cablo station will bo located. Tho now arrangement will, of course, enable tha Doubtless Bay station to b© dispensed with.
