GRAIN AND PRODUCE. (By Telegraph—Presa Association.! Christchurcii, March 1. The local wheat market is steady, with a good demand for prime samples, which change hands chiefly at 3s. 4d. at country stations, though dccasional lots of extra prime bring a little more. Home of the grain is coining to hand in very Eoft couditiou t having been threshed out of stock before being really fit. Oats are now being offered rather moro freely, but the market is easier in consequence of business with Australia having for tho time being come to an end. Those buyers who have filled their requirements are now not offering more than Is. lOd., and are not anxious to buy even at that figure. Others who still require to secure supplies arc giving a little more, and for prims "A" grade up to 2s. is still being paid at country stations. There is an improved inquiry for Algerians. Oatshcaf chaff is selling in limited quantities at 60s. at country stations. Early varieties of potatoes are selling at £2 10s. to £2 15s. at country stations. Business in the main crop of onions has opened, and the price being paid is £5 at country stations. The crop is generally good, but is about a month later than usual on account of the wet season.
