The • Hawke's Buy Boxing Association held a carnival at the Princess Theatre, Hastings', this evening, in tho presence of n large attendance.. The takings amounted to JfclSO. . ' ' ■ The chief attraction was a contest between Ireland, the well-known Waipawa. boxer, and Peter Thompson, a, Maori, with n first-class .Australian .record..The contest went the'iull-fifteen the referee (Mr. A. Preliminary bouts were decided as follow :-H. Fifth (Napier), "st. 131b., beat J. M'Cormitk (Hastings), Bst. 131b., on points, in four rounds. The match between Hansen (Waipnwa) and A. Burnett (Napier) resolved itself into a humorous exhibition, and no decision was given. J. Griffon (Greymotith) boxed an exhibition spar with Gdo. Dawson (Havelock). • \ NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. (By TeleeraDh— Prws Association.) ChrUtchurch, February 28. At a meeting of the New Zealand Boxing , .Council lengthy correspondence was received from the Hawko's Bay cen'tre detailing the circumstances which had led to the suspension of two competitors nnd two seconds who had takeii part in a competition promoted by the Hawke's Hay Association, and curried out by that body on October 11 and, 12, 1011. The centre recommended that the two competitors should be suspended for six months each, and tho two seconds for three and fivo years respectively.' Both seconds, the correspondence- stated, had besn guilty of 'serif/us misconduct on the stage on the occasion of the competition referred to, and in addition, one of them -had succeeded in inducing the two competitbrs to withdraw from the events in which they should hnve taken part on the second night, j After some discussion it was decided to endorse the suspensions thnt the two competitors should be each suspended for a period of six months, commencing from January 1, 1912, and that,the two seconds should be each suspended for a period, of two yen'rn far misconduct on the stage, and that an additional term of one year should be imposed., upon the secoix), who was responsible for the withdrawal of the two competitors. Tho suspensions take effect as from January 1, 1912. The Southland Association furnished particulars concerning the suspension of a competitor who had been guilty of misconduct in the ring at the association's tournament held on September 27, 1911. The' competitor had been suspended for a period of two years. The action of the Southland Association was endorsed, the suspension for two years taking effect from November 12, 1911. ' ' It wne decided to take a mail vote with respect to Clause 11 of the rule relating to the control of , professional championships; The committee agreed to submit the following, in place of the existing clause: "The , holder shall lie consulted as to tho holding of the contest at such place, The council may, in its ..discretion, fix any other place m the Dominion for thp contest and its dc-ci-iioh Shall be final."
