BISHOPRIC OF NELSON.
ELECTION OF A SUCCESSOR TO DR. MULES. . ' (By Teiesranh -Press Association.) Nelson, February 28. The Anglican Diocesan Synod met in special session to-day for the election of a Bishop lo succeed Dr. Mules, who hos resigned. The proceedings took place in camera. It is understood that there were seven nomiiiiii-ions of eloigy residing in various parts of the Dominion. The ballots Had not concluded when the Synod adjourned late to-night. Ah Anglican Bishop in Now Zealand is nominated by the Synod of the diocese, and tho Primate obtains from I he Bishopelect n declaration in writing of his assent to the constitution of the Church of the I'rovinco of New Zealand, which lie submits, together with the nomination, to the General Synod, or if that body is not in session, to tho Standing Committees of the various dioceses, for sanction. The nomination being sanctioned, the I'rimate talcos Hie iieces.savy steps for the consecration of the Bishop-elect, which must tako place in New Zealand.
