TARAWERA SENSATION.
ALLEGED MURDER AND SUICIDE. I (By TeleErajth—Prcis Aisociatton.) Hamilton, February 27. New? has been received at 'J'e Awamutu that a wealthy half-caste named Graham is supposed to have murdered his wife and then committed suicide in tho Tarawora district, eight miles away. The police have left for the scene, mid at present no further details are available. Later. Details of the Tarawera tragedy are to the effect that Graham, whose Native namo_ was Kcreama Kahi, at. -1.30 this morning, murdered his wife with a gun, after vainly trying to shoot her with a revolver. From documents found it appears the act was premeditated. For tho last fortnight there had been domestic disagreements, the wife threatening to leave him to go to Rotorua. After killing his wife, the man then took rabbit poison, but immediately after, on being surprised by n Native, who ran in .alarmed by tho screams of tho woman: "Ho's killing me!" took a double-barrelled gun and shot himself in tho region of the heart. Death was instantaneous.
