The Federal Government is calling tenders for tho supply of 135,000 tons of steel rails. Mr. King O'Malley, Minister for Home Affairs, claims that it will bo the biggest railway job in the world; it will cover 10G3 miles, and bo earned out by day labour. Eighteen hundred men will be required. Asked ; as to what preference would be extended to English manufacturers, Mr. O'Malley said that outside Australia, tenders would be called for only in England. This should indicate the Government's intention.
