DREDGING. (By" Tiltmoh.- Presi Aisoclk.Uoi.l Dunodln, February 23. Dredging returns:—Koputai, 38oz. lldwt,; Karanui, 350z. Miwt.; Electric No. 1, 260z. 6dwt.; Ifasterton, 19oz. 2dwt. ' WATCHMAN GOLD MINING CO. -The mine managor reports:—During the past week work has been in progress aa usual in various parts of the mine. No. I rise has been advanced an additional II feet, making a total of 50 feet to date. For the last few fcot tho reef has become smaller, measuring about 3 feet. At tho bottom of the last round of hole 6 fired there is sign of uu improvement in size in the south ond. The reef at present measures 4 feet, with gold showing through tho stone. Parallel Reef.—Nothing has been done in this faco for the past week, this being owing to a start to rise on the Parallel Reef on February 14. Six feet having been risen in all, the quartz measuring about 5 feet wide. The samtetono is alt that could be desired for makia" values. South Kast Crosscut.—This faco has been I advanced an additional 10 feet, making a total of 466 feet to date. At present there arc signs of the footwall country. A few more shifts should piovo the same. A start will then be made' to drivo on tho line of Ihe reef where the gold was secu a-few feet.back from thn present face. North West Crosscut.—This face has been advanced 9 feci, making a total of 43 foot to date. The quartz, referred to in my last report, proved to be tho true hanging wall of this reef, measuring about 2 feet 6 inches wide, with zinc blend and 'sulphides distributed through the stone, and, occasionally, a few colours of fold nro t<vn. A start will bo made to dmo on the iihoi .next woek.
