FEILDING. Mr. Fred Pirani, accompanied by Miss Dorothy J'irani, left for (ireymouth yesterday afternoon, to attend'(he conferonce of the New Zealand Press Association, of which body Mr. J'irani is a director. Mivl). Goodbohere, Mavor of Fcilding, who is at present at I.<ikf> Taupo, on a health visit, returns here next week. A somewhat serious collision look place a. Aoraugi, when a motor-bicycle, ridden by two men coining from Palmerston, met with violent impact, a trap and horse going in the opposite direction. There were two Maoris in the trap. Mr. W. If. Hull, second auctioneer for Messrs. Dalgety and Co.—one of-lho riders of the motor-cycle—received the worst injuries, being severely cut about tho face. Ho was taken to a private hospital in Palinei'.stou. The occupants of the trap disappeared immediately after the accident. It is proposed to start classes in veterinary science this year in connection with the Technical School under Mr. D. H. Unit. A cablegram has been received from Mr. 0. A. Banner, of N.S.W., acthe position of director of tho leading Technical School. . Mr. Banner is under thirty years of age. His speciality is scientific agriculture. Ho received his elementary and secondary training in the public schools of Xew South Wales, and the Teachers' Training College. He took a course nt the Hawkcsbury Agricultural Colleges, and was, for some time, instructor there. The new director will succeed Mr. L. J.- Welkins, who takes up' the position of art master in the primary schools of the Vt'angunui district, in addition to his ordinary art work.
